THIS YEAR'S POSTER ...

Each year, we enlist a regional artist to create our SSS poster.

2021: Jason Tesauro, photograph

2022: Eden Domminik, illustration

2023: Alex Neckopulos, screen print

For 2024, renowned Virginia artist and muralist Ed Trask created a sublime image rich with intention, symbolism, and meaningfulness. That chef’s hand is drawn from an image of Patrick O’Connell holding aloft one of Village Garden’s prized heirlooms. And the farmer’s hand is Tomato Dave’s from a photograph by Tesauro. The basket of tomatoes and the hoop house are all real.

Artist Statement about the painting…

The anatomy of a tomato flower behind the framing of a wineglass showing how lovely, rewarding, and even sexy the tomato can be. One side shows the real story of a farmers hand digging in the soil against a chef holding the prized possession. Held in a blue ribbon –keeping the essential octagon – gives way to a section of the farm in the distance.
